Autumn Term 2023

Our Termly Topic

We have an exciting term planned for you.  Our topic this term is 'Our Kingdom United'

 

Our 'Stunning Starter' for our new topic will be to take part in a 'Highland Games'.  We will have our Scottish Clans and we will perform some physical activities linked to the tradition of the games.

 

We will be learning about London and some of its famous landmarks.

 

During the second half of the term we will be thinking about how Britain has changed from times gone by and how this has shaped where and how we live today.

 

Additional Information

Please remember that our PE day is Wednesday (Foxes).

 

To support your children at home, it would be beneficial to:

- Log in to use Bug Club (ActiveLearn) to access reading material and maths games.

- Practise your times tables.  Start with learning your X2, X5 and X10 times tables before progressing on to X3 and X4 times tables.  Some of the children are enjoying the challenge of learning their times tables and have started to look at X6 and X7 times tables.

- Work through any spellings you are given.  The children must be confident spelling high frequency words independently in order to become confident writers.

- Complete a homework task each week using the homework grid activities we have sent you.

 

Please note that log-in details for online activities are stuck in the back of your homework books.

Spring Term 2022/2023

 

Our Termly Topic

We have an exciting term planned for you. Our topic this term is ‘Gimme 5’.

  

Our 'Stunning Starter' for our new topic will be a visit to Techniquest to take part in a workshop about our ‘5 senses’.

  

We will be covering a wide-range of themes and topics this term including work related to:

 

- Emotions and our 5 senses.

- Shakespeare’s plays ‘The Tempest’ and ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ (specially adapted material for children) and how he used 5 acts to tell his stories.

- Forces and how this applies to objects and inventions.

- A welsh immersion week during which we will study famous people from the world of arts and entertainment

-Five major world religions

Please remember that our PE day is Tuesday (Hedgehogs)  Wednesday (Foxes).

Our Termly Topic

We have an exciting term planned for you. Our topic this term is ‘Our Kingdom United’.

  

Our 'Stunning Starter' for our new topic was to take a virtual trip around the city of London and discover landmarks using virtual reality headsets.

We have been writing persuasively to try and convince people that they should visit London. 

  

We have been learning about the legend of Nessie during our studies about Scotland. We have been learning about the Scottish Wars of Independence and we are even learning some Scottish Gaelic words!

Autumn Newsletter

What we have been up to - October 2022

 

Summer Term 2022

We have a really exciting term planned for you. Our topic this term is 'Around the World'.

 

Our 'Stunning Starter' for our new topic was a visit to Plantasia in Swansea.

We had a wonderful day learning about some creatures and their habitats from all over the world. We even got to hold some of these creatures. We were very brave!

 

We will be learning about climates in more detail and looking at things such as adaptation and food chains in our science work.

 

We will be learning about places such as ancient Rome, studying some famous landmarks and thinking about what life was like as a Roman Gladiator.

 

Please remember that our PE day is Tuesday.

Plantasia Trip: 17 June 2022

Spring Term 2022

Welcome to our class page.  We are the Foxes' Class!

 

We have a really exciting term planned for your.  Our topic this term is 'How Things Work'.

 

We will be making some lovely crafts as part of our learning and we will consider our own inventions.

 

In language we will be writing explanations of our inventions and writing persuasive texts to convince people how great our inventions are!

 

In maths we will continue to work on multiplication and division.  We will also look at fractions and aspects of measure such as area, time and weight.

 

Our Science topic is forces and we will carry out some experiments with friction, magnets and light.

 

Please remember that out PE day is Tuesday so make sure you come to school wearing suitable kit on this day.
